Eating gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free at home is a routine. On the road, it takes a plan. This is how High Vibe Vacay approaches it for every trip, plus the operators that publish enough detail to plan around. It is practical travel advice, not medical advice; if you have a diagnosed allergy or celiac disease, follow your doctor's plan.
How do you make sure a hotel can feed you gluten-, dairy- and egg-free?
Quick answer
It depends on the kitchen, so ask early and in writing. 1) Put all three needs on the reservation. 2) Two to three weeks out, email the chef or food and beverage team, list exactly what you avoid (including butter, ghee, mayonnaise, egg wash and fresh pasta) and ask how they handle cross-contact. 3) On arrival, introduce yourself to the restaurant manager. 4) Pack safe snacks for travel days. The Celiac Disease Foundation and FARE both recommend calling ahead and carrying a dietary card.
What should you say? A copy-and-paste script
It depends on the place, but this works for most kitchens:
"I'm arriving [dates] and I eat gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free. That includes wheat, barley, rye, milk, butter, cheese, cream, ghee and eggs (including mayonnaise, egg wash and fresh pasta). Could you tell me which dishes you can prepare this way, and whether you use a separate fryer and prep area? Thank you!"
Abroad, carry the same in the local language on a printed dietary card.
Which cruises, tours and hotels publish their dietary policies?
It depends on the operator. These publish the most specific detail, as of October 24, 2026:

Globus says special meals outside the US can't be promised, because many meals are in local restaurants. Plan snacks, and let your advisor request meals in writing.
Food note: Pack backup food for included meals.
Checked: Globus DJ
Which cuisines are easiest for gluten-, dairy- and egg-free?
It depends on the dish, but many travelers find Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese (ask for tamari instead of soy sauce), Mexican (corn tortillas; check for lard, cheese and crema) and Indian (ask about ghee, cream and naan) easier than bakery-heavy or butter-heavy cuisines. Always ask; recipes vary by kitchen.
FAQ
Do cruise lines accommodate gluten-free and dairy-free?
Many do on request. As of October 24, 2026, Avalon Waterways and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection both publish that they accommodate gluten-free and allergy needs.
Should I carry a dietary card?
Yes, especially abroad. The Celiac Disease Foundation and FARE recommend translated cards, and Beyond Celiac offers a free gluten-free restaurant card.
