'Wellness retreat' can mean anything from a silent week of yoga to a beach resort with a nice spa. Picking the right one is mostly about knowing which kind you want and asking the right questions before you pay.
What are the main types of wellness retreat?

What questions should you ask before booking a retreat?
It depends on the retreat, but always ask: What is included (meals, classes, treatments, transfers)? What does a typical day look like, and is anything required? How big are the groups? Can the kitchen handle my dietary needs, in writing? Who leads the sessions, and what are their qualifications? What is the cancellation policy?
What are the red flags?
It depends on the claim, but be wary of any retreat that promises medical results, sells supplements as part of the program, pressures you with 'only two spots left' messaging, or will not share a sample schedule or the full price upfront. A good retreat is clear about what it offers and does not promise how you will feel.

FAQ
What is the difference between a destination spa and a spa resort?

How long should a wellness retreat be?
It depends on your time; many destination spas suggest three to seven nights so you can settle into the rhythm.
